Jack Taylor Tandem 1

This is a 1980 Jack Taylor Touring Tandem, but don’t let the age fool you - this bike is showroom beautiful!  Jack Taylor bikes were built in the UK and were originally all custom bikes until they began to be mass-produced.

This bike was bought brand new by two previous PMBC members who rode it on 2 tours and then decided a tandem wasn’t for them. So the bike sat in their house for years but was kept oiled and maintained. There is not a single scratch on this bike, and it is 100% operational and in beautiful condition.

SPECS:

1980 Jack Taylor Touring Tandem made with a Reynolds 531 butted tube frame, lugless, oval section forks, double diamond design, front & real luggage carriers, dynamo mounts w/ concealed wiring, full brazed fittings, 63-inch wheelbase, 11-inch bottom bracket height, a 2.375 rake, and a Jack Taylor custom rear drum brake for extra stopping power.

Reynolds 531 (pronounced 'five-three-one') is a brand name, registered to Reynolds Technology of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, for a manganese–molybdenum, medium-carbon steel tubing that was used in many quality applications, including race car chassis, aircraft components and, most famously, bicycle frame tubing. It is one of a number of tubing types developed by Reynolds.

The winner
of the silent auction will be announced at the September 21, 2024, club breakfast meeting (also via email). They will then be expected to make payment of their winning bid amount within the next week and then take possession of the bike. There are several Jack Taylor websites out there for collectors and owners that even list Jack Taylor bikes for sale. Bikes like this one are valued at $800 - $1200. The minimum starting bid for this auction is $650.
