Saturday Cycling Ride Report for 05/29/2021

Hello Saturday Cyclists,

Our pack was down to 28 this week while several regulars we’re chasing a train in Colorado that day. We managed to shoehorn in a table for 12 on the patio at the Nosh, but still had some long-route riders who felt there was not enough room at the inn and took their breakfast money up the road.  I hear that many of the long-route pack opted to skip the Shaughnessey Road hill because the same climb was on tap for the next day’s Sunday Spin Cycle ride.  It’s my special job to make sure that doesn’t happen, and I muffed it again.  Oops.

Coming up...

Saturday, June 05, 6:30 a.m., Kiwanis Park. Tour de Sue
Tour de Sue is a flat loop to the south, with route options of 25 or 35 miles. Both routes include a good long stretch with no traffic lights.
Preregistration is available at:

Saturday, June 12, 6:30 a.m., Kiwanis Park. Midsummer Ride
This route was designed to seek out maximum shade on summer mornings when the sun is farthest north and most brutal. In the winter it's just another route. It includes options of 28 miles with one short climb, or 38 miles with a couple of bonus hills. Breakfast at Panera Bread at Guadalupe and McClintock.
Preregistration available at:

Saturday, June 19, 6:30 a.m., Kiwanis Park. Length of Lindsay
The Length of Lindsay takes us to the east, with route options of 29 miles or 39 miles, no climbing. Breakfast at Panera Bread on the SE corner of Guadalupe and McClintock.

Tid Bits…

I really had every intention of changing the map for Tour de Sue before this week’s ride, but stuff happened, and I didn’t.  The primary objective is to avoid the dangerous train crossing at Elliot and Kyrene.  This week I’m going to recommend that we exit Wild Horse Pass on the way back by taking Willis to 40th Street, then Frye to 48th.   Breakfast at the Nosh or continue along 48th Street north to Guadalupe and to the park.  Eventually we may still use Kyrene but cross over to McClintock for the return path and call it a Panera route.  We will be at Panera the next two weeks in row, after that it’s The Hungry Monk!

Have fun, ride safely, and stay healthy!
